Long Weekend and Lots of the NHL

April 14, 2008 1 comment

It has been a long weekend with work. This has left me pretty tired every night and going to sleep early. Not much time to blog.

All my extra time has been spent enjoying the NHL playoffs. Thanks the good Lord above for Versus.

Here are my first round picks:

Red Wings
Sharks Flames

Brother’s Night Out

January 18, 2008 1 comment

I just wrote about how cool it is to watch my kids all grow up and bond with one another. I finished with a sentence anticipating things getting even better in the future. I can write this because of the happiness and relationship I have with my own siblings. We’ve all done our own thing at times, but the more time goes by the stronger our ties and the more fun we have together.

Last night is a great example. My very sneaky wife got my brothers and I tickets to a MN Wild hockey game for Christmas and last night we all headed down to St. Paul to watch the game (my brother-in-law also came). We had a great time eating, laughing, talking and watching the game. My two younger brothers live together so they see a lot of one another but with me being married and living a hour away I don’t get to see as much of those guys as I’d like. It was a ton of fun to be together and watch the sport we all love. It’s a great feeling to know that someone will always have your back and love and support you no matter what; I can’t imagine what it would be like to grow up with siblings.

Thanks Stephanie for giving us a great brother’s night out!

Stinkin’ LSU

Really bummed that Ohio State is playing so terrible tonight. I can’t stand LSU and all the hype they’ve gotten this year.

Quote the Raven: Ouch!

I think the Baltimore Ravens exhausted themselves last week against the Patriots. The game against the Colts tonight is ugly…currently 44-7 with 1:42 left in the 3rd quarter.

Season Totals:
Bethel 2-0

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend this game. I am really going to miss watching Jeff play when he graduates so I am going to try and catch as many games as possible this year.

Bethel Hockey is Back!

Bethel hockey started again tonight with the Royals defeating the U of M Crookston team 4-0.

JB stats = 1g, 1a, +2

Season Totals:
Bethel 1-0
JB 1g 1a = 2 points

In four years playing at Bethel I never was on the winning end of a shut-out. This year the team started the season with one. Great game to watch. Bethel was all over them most of the night, except the last 8-10 minutes when the quality of Bethel’s play deteriorated to match that of Crookston.

My brother Jeff played great, and had a really skilled shorthanded breakaway goal to go along with an assist. His best play of the night however was a breakaway that he missed. He put an amazing move on the goalie that left the tender’s jock strap in the stands. But unfortunately he shot the puck wide of the empty goal.

I brought the three kids and was chasing them around while I watched. An older woman commented how brave I was to bring all the kids. I replied that I was a just a devoted brother and fan. When she found out #17 [Jeff] was my brother she said, “Oh, now I know why you come!” That was a cool compliment and gives you an idea of how good a player my brother is.
